According to The Advertiser, SALISBURY Council is investigating whether a mosque is being run on business premises.
Unverified footage has been posted on social media showing cars outside a building with chanting emanating from within.
It is understood the building, which sits in the middle of an industrial estate, is currently zoned as an office or warehouse. If the allegations are true the owner may be in breach of the Salisbury Council zoning restrictions.
During the day the building on Pentland Rd is home to a custom home building firm.
Salisbury Mayor Gillian Aldridge said the council was trying to get in touch with the owner to inform them of the special permission necessary to run a place of worship for any faith.
“They may not know that they need permission,” Ms Aldridge said. “So we are trying to get in touch with the owners to give them some advice.”
Ms Aldridge said it was unlikely the owner would be fined as there had been no caution.
The video was posted to the Facebook group Concerned Citizens of South Australia which has previously campaigned against mosques.
