As the global war on terror continues to grind on, many people on the side of Western civilization have lamented the fact that relatively few moderate Muslims have lifted their voices to join the chorus opposing the actions of the violent fundamentalists.
An incident that occurred Friday night in Scotland provides a sobering example of why most moderates simply keep their mouths shut though, as a Muslim shop owner was murdered simply for wishing his Christian customers a Good Friday and Happy Easter, according to Breitbart.
Asad Shah, a Pakistani native living in Glasgow, Scotland, was part of a minority sect of Islam known as Amadiyyah, which unfortunately was declared as un-Islamic and an apostasy by the Pakistani government.
Sadly, mere hours after wishing his customers a glorious celebration for their Christian holy day, the 40-year-old was brutally beaten, had his head stomped in, and was stabbed to death by an angry fundamentalist Muslim.
According to the U.K. Daily Record, police confirmed that they arrested a 32-year-old Muslim man believed responsible for the “religiously prejudiced” attack.
Shah had apparently signed his own death warrant by having the temerity to post to social media a message reading: “Good Friday and a very Happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation. Let’s follow the real footstep of beloved holy Jesus Christ and get the real success in both worlds.”
Many people of all faiths in Glasgow are now mourning the shopkeeper described as a “popular, well respected and much loved member of our community.”
Some fingers have also begun pointing towards the largest Islamic center in Scotland, the Glasgow Central Mosque, specifically the outspoken and radicalized Imam Maulana Habib Ur Rehman.
Rehman has previously praised the murders of Christians and so-called apostates in Pakistan at the hands of the Taliban, and is believed to be at least partially responsible for the increasingly fundamentalist track the central mosque has been moving toward lately, at the expense of more liberal, moderate, reform-minded Muslim men, women and children.
Unfortunately, until moderate Muslims can reach out to their Christian customers and neighbors without fear of being murdered by an angry fundamentalist, there will be no strong reform movement to counter the seemingly rampant radicalism coursing through the religion of Islam.
Please share this on Facebook and Twitter as an example of why there aren’t more moderate Muslims speaking out against radical fundamentalist Islam.
